Mercury on Wii June 19, 2006
Never played this PSP game, but it sounds cool if it is in the vein of Super Monkey Ball.
One of the more interesting early-on PSP releases was a curious puzzler game not much unlike Sega’s Super Monkey Ball series entitled Mercury. Ignition Entertainment picked up the rights to develop a PSP sequel, but apparently their plans may not end there. A post on the NeoGAF forums cites a European distribution list stating Ignition Entertainment’s scheduled Mercury Meltdown and Mercury Type-R for Wii later this year. Considering how easy Monkey Ball’s making the leap, Mercury would make perfect sense, too.We contacted the folks over at Ignition, and while they sidestepped outright confirmation, they certainly seem keen on the idea. “Because of the versatility of Mercury Meltdown it certainly lends itself to a number of next-gen console opportunities. We can’t comment further at this time but we plan to have additional announcements regarding Mercury Meltdown in the near future, said Ignition president Paul Robinson.
Reading between the lines, Robinson certainly seems to be saying “yes. We can’t say when Mercury will appear here in the states, but a Wii version seems a lock.
