Wave Race, Rad Racer, Balloon Fight…wait, is that a MOTOR SPORT!

Hiding inside Nintendo’s E3 booth next to Wii Sports: Baseball was a flying game under the title Wii Sports: Airplane. No one was sure what exactly to make of this; was this an unexpected addition to the Wii Sports family, as the name would suggest?

Sort of, but not really. According to the latest issue of Nintendo Power the game is actually part of Wii Motor Sports. Similar in approach to Wii Sports, Wii Motor Sports would include easy-to-drive vehicles, with E3’s airplane game part of the package. The E3 demo was reminiscent of the bi-plane levels of Pilotwings, with players controlling the plane by holding Wii’s remote like a paper airplane, tilting and banking the remote to control the plane’s direction.

The magazine notes that a future game in the Wave Race series would possibly be included in Wii Motor Sports. At this point, the Wii Motor Sports is not officially in development, as Nintendo has yet to decide on whether or not it will release such a game.
