Square’s characters may find a new home in Mario Hoops-3-on-3 for the Nintendo DS. 

The DS has been getting a lot of Final Fantasy love.

In addition to receiving Final Fantasy III this fall, the first time that title has ever reached American shores, several characters from the series will be making their own appearances in Mario Hoops, which is being developed by Square-Enix.

White Mage, Black Mage, Ninja, Mog, and Cactuar will be taking it to the hole alongside Mario mainstays such as Daisy, Wario, and Luigi. Each Final Fantasy character will also have his or her own special attacks, such as Cactuar’s “1,000 Needles� or Black Mage’s “Meteor.�

There may be other Final Fantasy characters yet to appear in the game, as well. Wishful players can still hold out hope that Sephiroth might enter the basketball court.
