My Co-Worker, Pat Grubb, modeled this flawless Wiimote using 3D Studio Max 8, we’re going to be using it for various projects, but in the spirit of giving, we’re letting everyone download the .max file for free.

What do you do for a living exactly, or is this a side project? Looks pretty awesome.
I work at a Multimedia and Video Production company in Philadelphia.
The Wiimote was done out of boredom by my co-worker, plus we’ll probably end up using it for certain things.
WiiNintendo.net is just a fansite/side project. If my dreams come true, I’ll be blogging for a living… I’m not holding my breath though.
Grammar police: it’s “you’re”, not “your”. Don’t you listen to Strongbad?
Oops, sorry, that site didn’t accept my deep link to the mp3. Try this instead.
Nice work! I wish I’d get into 3D modeling on a PC or something. I’d like to try and model a DS or Nunchuk someday.
forget a model give me a remote mod so i can control other devices! Wii tv anyone?
What firm do you work for in Philadelphia? I did a lot of ActionScript while going to school there. It’s a small town…
That’s really good, kudos!
I wish I could model that well :/
Thanks for letting us have it for free too.
(If you get bored again maybe make a Wii too

I think you may know Ian, he’s been working here for a couple months, he does freelance in NYC a lot. You may also know Laris.
Hey that’s a nice looking model! You think you could export a .fbx version for us non Max users? 😉
@Robert, sure. Give me a minute.
I was wondering if you could do us a nunchuck?
Thanks love the work.
Dude it doesn’t download it just sits there a says that its waiting to download a file.
Wow, thats an awesome job.
I do have a request though. Could you please export it as an .obj? I run old modeling software.
.fbx link is dead
is there any chance of that .obj or some other open format?
Can anyone give a .3ds file instead? That way I can import it to Blender.
hi, as noodle_93 mentioned: can anyone export the .max file to a .3ds file to unse it in rhino. that would be very fantastic. thanx a million, dan.
i would also like to get the .3ds version of it. i have no way of converting it. help please.
this is great! i was looking for one of these for my wiiflash / papervision project!
now if it was only a collada (.dae) file…. THANX!
Hello! Good Site! Thanks you! lzpozfosincd
I’ve converted the model to an OBJ model.
You can download it here: http://jorgecardoso.org/blog/index.php?/archives/84-Wiimote-3D-OBJ.html
Thanks for the model!!
what kind file would be work in blender?? I am just start to using blender. But, I hope you can provide this with a blender friendly version>
Very nice work. I wonder: would you consider putting an explicit Open Source license on this, so that people working on Free and Open Source Software projects can include it?
Thanks for this, am using this in a test scene with a Wiimote plugin for Unity, an perfectly awesome 3D engine (http://unity3d.com).
Made some model updates, wanted to share back;
– buttons are separate objects.
– tweaked the diffuse texture; A button.
– lights are separate objects (just colored planes for now).
– added nunchuck plug (no nunchuck model yet).
– elements are all named.

Well done dude.
I’m looking to use my C coding experience to play with some Wii homebrew. all my experience is 2d :/ Do you know how one would go about displaying this model …Eg. compile -l3ds and use 3ds_show(&image) ??
says that it’s missing a jpg image (name: Wii_remote5view_0501.jpg)
I just found out that theres a white box behind the wii remote when I open your file… how do I remove it?
thaaaaaaaaaaanks!!! it’s just what i need!!!!
