Wii Play, coming to the US this Tuesday February 11, 2007

Wii Play has been available in Europe since launch day and now it will finally land on our (US) shores, just in time for Valentines day. I’ve been reading a lot about Wii Play from people in Europe and most conclude that the game isn’t that great, but that’s always followed with, “except for [game x]“. Apparently, everybody has one game that they really love and the rest they hate. I’ve heard the “Find Mii”, “Shooting game”, “Laser game”, and “Tank game” are fun.

Most people figure that the game is only 10$ (because for 50$ you get the game and a wii-mote). When you say to yourself I just bought a 10$ game, people tend to justify this game by using this logic in their heads.

I’m assuming in a few weeks (less on eBay) the game will be available without the Wii-mote for 10$. I only have two wii-motes, so in preparation for Mario Party, I think I can definitely justify buying this game even if it’s just to get that 3rd wii-mote.

I’ve had my share of mini-games between Rayman and Monkey Ball, so I just hope Wii Play’s games have a little more depth than those games.

You can check out Nintendo’s official Wii Play site, complete with tutorials on all the games:

I called my local ebgames to see if they would have the game and of course they didn’t know. Whats up with the EB/gamestop guys that work in the shops in my area (northwest metro atlanta)? The gamestop/eb guy(s) that comments on this site always know stuff, guys I have to talk to around here… nothing!

And whats worse is when ever I’m in the shops they are always talking out their asses when it comes to games and game news, almost like they make stuff up.

I keep hearing the Tank game is outstanding of the rest of the games there. I’ve just checked the Wii Play site by accident before coming here. From the looks of it, I say tank is one tricky fun but retro game out of the pack. I do believe though like I’ve heard others say these little mini games should’ve been already been included on teh VC itself. Or at least downloaded at the Wii Shop.

most eb/gamestop employees don’t know much about it because we stopped taking reserves on it about 3 weeks ago, so little information is available from the store itself, others like myself try to keep up with things like this and relay that information to our customers.

here in europe its just up to 2

The games are not that exciting, it is a nice added bonus if you’re buying an extra controler, but as a standalone game it would fail miserably.
I like the 9ball game. As this indicates quite well how a pool game could be excecuted on the wiii and i like pool now and again.

Bring on the target shooting, tank wars, and 9ball… I’m looking forward to it myself. Not for plot or depth, but I imagine them being fun sort of like Wii Sports is fun. Get a group together and instead of boxing or tennis, you can play 9ball or ping pong… I don’t think these little games are really meant for single player use, maybe that’s why people are complaining.
