Wii Hits The 6 Million Mark March 21, 2007

Filed under: Fanboy, News — boggie @ 8:08 am

That right, the Nintendo Wii you have come to know and love has managed to sell over 6 Million units worldwide now. This is great news for Nintendo and fans alike which should lead to more developers getting onboard and an onslaught of great games to come in the future. Already passing half-way through the Xbox 360’s total sales (note: the 360 was sold already well over a year ago), this makes Wii the fastest selling console of all time!

There Wii gooo! (just to quote Mario) ;)

I wonder when Wii will take down next milestone - xbox360 sales?

Who are buying these wiis? I still haven’t been able to find one. In fact I have only ever seen one outside of a store. Why doesn’t nintendo just sell direct if they are having this much of a problem manufacturing and shipping wiis? I would much rather goto nintendo’s website pay them $250 and wait a couple weeks for the ups/fedex guy to deliver it, than spend every other weekend trying to score one at toysrus or best buy or whoever has it in their sunday ad that week.

Man, zeos386sx that really sucks that you can’t find one. The demand really is phenomenal. The DS is still in huge demand and hard to find too.

Yeah, people regularly line up in stores in Japan for DS lites to this day. They sell out in my town each day they are in to the store, and they have been out since June 2006 here in the US. Wii’s have been getting people camping out for them each night a shipment comes in, every couple weeks. I have never seen one in the store. Every so often a store will put an add out that they are getting stock or amazon will restock. But the expected production of the Wii is increasing, look for more consoles in the coming months! Keep up the search, and in the mean time save up tons of money for games, or just buy the games now so you will have them when you get the Wii!

I just went on a shopping spree recently (for used GC games on the cheap).
Every shop I went into had PS3 ads up of course (EU release soon), then you go to the game section and the Wii stand has the boxes and a dead model console standing.
OUT OF STOCK plastered everywhere. Every store.

Hi, in Portugal there were a lack of Wii’s at Xmas but now its relatively easy to find one.
I have one and love it, my only worry is that Nintendo doesn’t manage to bring the great titles of videogames to the wii ( GTA, Half-Life, and many others ).
I would like to see a game push the wii to the limits, because i think there’s much more than the people think in terms of graphical power.
    I might be wrong.

  7. Gravatar troy Says:

you are right about graphical power. games like sonic and mario seem to have much better graphics than most of the PS2 quality ports companies feel the need to bring.
