Yes, but it’s not finished.
@Ben
True. But it’s still in development and looks like we’ll see a beta very soon.
I just can’t believe people actaully worry about playback on the Wii, DVD players are so inexpensive now. I’m glad Nintendo didn’t include playback, it would probably boost the cost of the Wii a bit if it did since they would have to pay to use the technology.
Is it a seperate wii or an accersory ?
So its an accessory . Or is it a whole new wii you have to buy..
pretty vague on the storyline here… to clarify for those of you that hadn’t read about this yet, it’s a software dvd player that runs on the wii using the GC homebrew mode, since they haven’t figured out how to get wii homebrew going yet. as such you need A) a loader for your wii (modchip/action replay + GC mem to SD adapter, and B) a GC controller.
@shanoboy: i’m sure people would be less upset about the lack of dvd video playback if nintendo hadn’t said from the beginning that it WOULD play dvd video, and then decided to hold back the feature for a “wii elite” model in “Q4 2007″. if you’re travelling and living in hotel rooms, would you really want to bring a wii and a dvd player when your wii uses dvd media but just doesn’t officially play video?
If you were travelling and living in Hotel rooms, I wouldnt expect anyone bringing a Xbox360 or PS3 around just so they can play DVD’s. Portable DVD players aren’t that expensive, and a PS2 Slimline can be picked up for cheap too if playing games is a must.
Or just buy a PSP with a large memory stick & some converted movies, or a DS with a flashcard with Moonshell.
Seriously, roaming around with a home console? People critisized the GC for having a handle!
Hey, I do it all the time :s
I go from math competition to math competition and most of the time I take my Game Cube with me.
