Nintendo’s making Friends. June 8, 2007

The soaraway success of Wii is partly thanks to Nintendo’s new attitude towards third-party developers, reports The New York Times, which notes that ‘even the creative loner can benefit from having friends’.
In the past, Nintendo’s relations with external game makers were notoriously strained, but the Big N has reportedly adopted more of an avuncular big hugs approach when persuading non-Nintendo devs to create games for Wii.
“I had not seen that attitude from them before,” Namco Bandai’s chief operating officer, Shin Unozawa, is quoted as saying about one particularly friendly visit from Nintendo execs. “Nintendo was suddenly reaching out to independent developers.”
EA spokesman, Jeff Brown, was also reported to be feeling the Nintendo love - “The relationship is warmer and more active than before,” he said, possibly feeling the love a little too much.

Warm than what though? things can always be warmer than the stone cold fish Nintendo has previously been to third-parties.
With third party support on the rise, the current Nintendo sales domination may continue for a long time. Welcome to 1985.
I think as long as Nintendo gets the support they need they’ll desimate the competition. This is the moment in the industry I’ve been waiting for since the end of the SNES.
