Japanese publishers focusing on Nintendo July 3, 2007
An article at Gamedailybiz spells out more bad news for Sony. Several large Japanese companies have publicly stated that they will be focusing on developing for Nintendo platforms while decreasing their focus on Sony platforms.
The report indicates that during fiscal 2007, Namco Bandai will boost its Nintendo lineup by 109 percent to 115 titles; Sega will increase its Nintendo offerings by 96 percent to 49 titles; and Capcom will bump up its Nintendo lineup by 5 percent to 20 titles. These same three publishers will also cut shipments of titles for Sony platforms (including PS3) by 30 to 40 percent.
Shipments of Nintendo titles are expected to total 26.88 million units in fiscal 2007 compared to 23.29 million units of Sony software. Capcom plans to significantly boost its Nintendo shipments by 81 percent to 4.7 million units, the report said.
At the moment the Wii is outselling the PS3 at 2:1 in the USA and 3:1 in Japan so it’s no wonder they are focusing on Nintendo.
Also Square Enix has said: “we have no plans to develop titles for the PS3 until sales improve enough to make the steep development costs financially worthwhile.”
Could this be the the end of the PS3? Probably not, but it’s certainly not going to help and it’s sure as heck not going to please the shareholders.

“by 5 percent to 20 titles.”
what a fancy way to say one (1) additional title..
They are bumping it 5% from what it CURRENTLY IS. 20 TITLES will be the amount of titles AFTER the 5% bump.
DURR THERES A 5% and a 20 LETZ JUST MULTIPLIEZ it~!!11
Today, I heard on G4tv they said 6:1 (in Japan at least).

Come on, what’s with the RIP PS3? Stop hating it just ebcause you cannot afford it.
And no, I don’t own one, I can’t afford it.
ha ha ha harr
just what till my friend heres about this
@x So what was the old value, if not 19, to get a 5% increase to 20? Don’t leetspeakz others before doing the math yourself.
Sony better change the price of the PS3 or it’s really going to R.I.P.
X + (X * .05) = 20
X (1 + .05) = 20
X = 20 / 1.05
X = 19.05
Nice, we’re getting an additional .95 title!
My Friend has a PS3 he has all the consoles.So back to the PS3 its fun but i don’t see a huge difference in the graphics the games are fun especially resistance. The PS3 is fun but i don’t think its worth 630$ or whatever it is.
according to the bbc news site currently it is 6:1….

How old is this article
@MJ
lol. i could buy about 10 PS3’s today if i wanted. im not hating on it, its just more bad news for them and unless they get some good games, marketing and pr its going to die.
sorry for saying this PS3 “fanboys” but its true the PS3 sucks, face it the Wii is way better
I second that. However I wouldn’t knock it for the price or the lack of games, because eventually it would have some good games to look forward to. Even if it becomes the GCN of this gen 20 million plus is nothing to sneeze at.
You can definitely knock it for the price, because it’s pretty clear to me that economics was not one of their top priorities when making the system.
As for the future, it looks like any of the must have games are going to have to be first-party titles, because unless the hardware sales increase a lot, the 3rd-party developers are either not going to make PS3 games, or will release their games multiple platforms (for a test case, see the history of the N64).
The Xbox 360 can do everything the PS3 can do, with the only exception being that it is incompatible with an expensive and unproven format (blu-ray). The Wii controller was also unproven, but Nintendo made it cheap enough that people were willing to experiment with it, and most of them seem to be satisfied.
