Smash Bros Brawl Character Predictions August 15, 2007
Hello, readers!
After a quick glance at my crystal ball, I thought I might throw my Smash Bros Brawl character predictions into the blog.
Why? If I am right, I can brag to the world that I guessed it! If I am wrong, I am shielded by the fact that they are just predictions. Who says the world isn’t fair?
Now, if you will just step right in here, I will express my theories…
My main prediction is about none other than Luigi! Nintendo seems to be weeding out clones, as Sakurai said that they will be a bit different this time around.
How can Luigi be any different from Mario though? Glad you asked.
Luigi has outshone his brother, Mario, twice. The first time was in the educational game “Mario Is Missing!” and the second was in the (much better known) “Luigi’s Mansion”.
My prediction is that Luigi will appear in Smash Bros Brawl with his trusty Poltergust 3000 vacuum.
Don’t you think that would be just awesome? Sure, he would not be the only character that can suck people up (Kirby, anyone?) but he would definitely have a unique style.
Now for my next prediction: Tamagon.
With the Devil from Devil World making an entrance as an Assist Trophy, why would Tamagon, the protagonist of said game, not appear?
Sure, Devil World was not released in the States, but don’t forget that Marth and Roy appeared in Smash Bros Melee before Fire Emblem appeared stateside.
Now for a few Assist Trophy predictions…
Captain Olimar and his Pikmin “hinchmin” would make a nice trophy. They could ravage the fighters much like the Unown pokemon.
And, finally, King Hippo, from Punch-Out. Who doesn’t agree that he would make a killer Assist Trophy? If you don’t, best not tell him that…

I like your ideas. It’d be funny if King Hippo made it.
I would like to see Koopas, Goombas, or other characters that reoccur in Mario games. They could either be main characters or assist trophies.
Obviously Sonic but maybe Tails, too. We already know Snake will be there, he just hasn’t been added on the Dojo site yet. Simon Belmont or anyone else from Castelvania would be cool. I’d love to see Pac-Man there. If they could find some way to use Tetris blocks as trophies or something, that would be cool, too. King Hippo I hadn’t thought of and love the idea… and it reminded me of the old Captain N cartoon, which also had Mega Man. He’d be perfect in there, too. Maybe Ryu from Street Figher? Rayman? Spyro? I’m really interested in third party characters. By getting Pit, they’ve gotten just about all their own franchises covered for me.
And two personal hopes… but probably a long shot… First, Tingle. Not a fighter, but give him something to do to make up for him missing out on Twilight Princess!
And given that the Pokemon Trainer character is basically Squirtle/Ivysaur/Charizard switching off, I’d love if they could have all 4 Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles to do the same (or REALLY go all out and have all 4 of them as seperate characters)
The Pokemon Trainer is such a uncolorfull “Fill in the blank” kinda character… (Exactly as he should be for that kind of RPG)
I would love to see other costume variations of both male & female Pokemon Trainers for that character…
Tough I truly doubt we would be getting the other starters as well…
I only care about Jigglypuffs return but here are a couple of my hopefulls to be in some way in the game
Mario series: daisy, pauline, Boom boom, birdo, boo but my highest is Rosette from galaxy
DK: Diddy kong, Dixie kong,but highest is Tiny kong
Wario: dribble and spits, mona, highest Ana and katt
starfox: bill grey, wolf, general scales, panther, highest both kristel and Katt Monroe (Weird I Know)
pokemon: only blaziken BRING BACK JIGGLYPUFF
Zelda: the pirate in wind waker
Metriod: the new bounty hunters, weavle Highest ridly
Fire emblem: they all would be good, but highest hard but Ena or Mist
F-zero: falcon, black bull, jody summers highest is Bio Rex
Punch out: great tiger, glass joe, piston honda, highest little max
Animal crossing: I guess mr. resetti
Golden sun: Alex, garet, felix, jenna, highest isaac
custom robo: don’t care realy
earth bond: don’t care
Misc series: Bubbles(clu clu land), doshin the giant, jill (drill dozer)
mach rider, excite truck, ballon fighter, highest of the misc is
Ayumi Tachibana (Famicom Detective Club Part II)
This is off the top of my head if i think of mor i will post it
I’m kind of suprised that no one has mentioned that they would like to see Geno! From Super Mario RPG. I think he would be a great fighter! If not, it would be nice to see him as an assist trophy at least.

Nah… I only like the Poltergeist 3000 Luigi idea, other really suck…!!
Here is some of my predications for smash bros brawl.
1. Little Mac (Punch Out)
I think it’s criminal that he hasn’t already been in a smash bros, Little Mac definetly belongs in this game!
2. Team Rocket (Pokemon)
I would have Jesse and James be together on the screen like the ice climbers and pulling off there usual attempts of screwing over pokemon trainers worldwide.
3. Bomberman (Bomberman)
Hudson and Nintendo have a really tight relationship right now and I think Bomberman is the best person to represent for Hudson, Even tho I’d like to see Bonk in there as well.
4. Megaman (Megaman)
Out of all the capcom games that have history with Nintendo
Megaman is the right person to bring to smash bros. I’d go with the classic all blue look.
5. Ryu Hayabusa (Ninja Gaiden)
This one needs to happen, I’d love to see some battle between Ryu and Shiek. Always good to have a bad ass ninja and Tecmo would be smart to have some Ninja Gaiden love in Smash Bros.
Let’s see, I used to have an entire character list but here’s the big ones (in no particular order):
1. Ray 01 (from Custom Robo)
Already been in a fighting game, has been featured in two games, and could have a very unique style of play. B-Attacks would be the Dragon gun, the Wall bomb (which his is up-B and acts like the Acrobat Bomb when used in air), the Wave pod, and his “Crash” attack.
2. Captain Olimar (from Pikmin)
This guy deserves WAY more than being an AT. There are some awesome movesets out there for this guy. Most of them involve Bomb Rocks and using Down-B to pluck Pikmin which you can then order around.
3. Ridley (from Metroid)
Very surprised he’s only shown up here once yet. They CAN resize him. They did it for Kirby, Bowser, and Pikachu, they can do it for Ridley. The fact that Charizard can make it in also helps this space dragon’s chances. He’d be a large, heavy flier and specialize in quick but low knock-back attacks.
4. Mr. Resetti, Tom Nook, or K.K. Slider (from Animal Crossing)
Any and all of these would rock. No one go saying “But they can’t fight” because C. Falcon and Fox didn’t pre-SSB. Yes, Nook is in the background but they could take him out whenever someone is fighting with him (plus we’re talking about the game that allows four Marios at once). K.K. Slider might actually be unlocked by playing Smashville on Saturdays at 8:00 instead of just singing. Mr. Resetti could be unlocked by, well, resetting the game.
5. Megaman (from Megaman)
If Megaman doesn’t get it, I’ll sue. Not really, but I’d be much happier with Mega than without. Also, he would NOT be a Samus clone. One similar move doesn’t make a clone (otherwise everyone would be clones because, gasp, they all punch!). He’d use his Arm Cannon with B (which he can move while charging you have to hold down the button to keep the charge and can’t do anything else but jump, just like the games) and various Robot Master powers with his other buttons.

I want chibi from chibi-robot. He could fight with is toothbrush.
As long as King Hippo keeps his pants up, I’m fine. =D
I would love to see one of the rabbids from Rayman Raving Rabbids! I think Ridley (Metroid),Megaman (Megaman), and Sonic all are good possibilities as 3rd party characters.
Ridley isn’t a third party character. I think Rayman would also be a good third party character though and summon a raving rabbids army for his final smash. Hilarious!
Animal Crossing Boy & Girl
Dang, this just dawned on me. I highly doubt that Tamagon will appear. Why? Simple, The Devil AT doesn’t have any unique symbol. All other items/ATs that have had a character (or stage) to go with them that is either confirmed or all but confirmed (only others are Animal Crossing which has Smashville and possibly a character and then Earthbound and F-Zero which can be assumed that Captain Falcon and Ness will be in). Since The Devil doesn’t have a unique symbol next to his update, we can assume that Devil World will not have a representative or a stage.
I could be wrong but signs point to “no” at the moment.
X and Zero from the Mega Man X games would be a cool idea even though I’m sure normal Mega Man would be more likely to appear than X. Which is a shame, because all the good X games were on a Nintendo console anyway…
i’ve wanted the golden sun characters in ssb for a long time… imagine a final smash where isaac or anyone else pulls out a bunch of djinn and obliterates an entire stage!
Having sonic and knuckles (sonic the hedgehog) is a must for smash bros as well as having shadow mario (mario sunshine) as an assist trophy. And a metroid, all the shy guy people( fry-guy,fly-guy,spy-guy etc.) and bongo-bongo (LoZ ocarana of time) would also be great assist trophies.
MALLOW FROM SUPER MARIO RPG AND THE LEGEND OF THE SEVEN STARS…and geno he’s cool…hmm who else? i dunno

played the orignal tetris music in the background while tetris pieces
fell on they screen slow at first smashing the opponents while creating
lines, then moving faster and finishing up with a four liner that
explodes sending nearby opponents flying, sound nice curseddiamond9?

i like it but i rather see captain oimar as a character
1) Ridley - We’ve already seen him in an intro, I think he’s one of the safest guesses and will be very awesome I imagine.
2) Alexandra Roivas - For those who never played Eternal Darkness, she basically learns runes and combines them to cast spells as well as experiencing her ancestor’s lives and battles (most notably as a Roman who takes an artifact). All this could add a more horror inspired edge to Brawl.
3) King Dedede - Honestly, this would be my favorite. Running around as a fat penguin with a mallet is priceless but the problem is moves. I just don’t know what attacks he would have so we’ll see.
4) Aero the Acrobat - His gliding attacks and star shooting frenzies would translate perfectly to this game. The whole circus theme could be well adapted also. I’d be very pleased with this one as well.
5) Dr. Mario Viruses - Although I can’t remember their names, the switching Pokemon character made me think of them. It could have all three with different play styles (e.g. Yellow is fast and weak, Blue is heavy and durable, Red is hard hitting and aerial, or whatever).
I didn’t mention Sonic because I think he’ll be in, and not Megaman because I just don’t see how he’d translate well. He charges like Samus (although different I know) and his other main ability is taking powers… like Kirby. I may be wrong though.

They need to bring back marth, shiek(with zelda transformation), ganondorf, captain falcon, and luigi!
They should get shadow the hedgehog and sonic the hedgehog.

Maybe zelda’s final smash can be her light arrows from twilight princess, or SHIEK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I don’t get why so many people tend to say “no more Pokemon” just because it’s not their preference. I may have a bias myself being a personal fan, but given that Brawl will have approximately 40 characters, people don’t tend to realize that 5 is being generous. 2 out of the 12 in SSB were Pokemon, making that 1/6. In SSBM, it was 4 out of 25, or 1/6.25. Many people have voiced that they don’t want 5 Pokemon characters, but they don’t really take into account that 40 divided by 5 is eight. The Pokemon amount is shrinking, yet people are complaining.
As for predictions, I say in the Mother corner, Ness will stay. Why? Because he’s a classic. There should also be a Mother 3 character, or if not, another Earthbound character. I actually CAN see Lucas alongside Ness, because although they are similar, Lucas can learn different PSI moves including PK love. Or Flint, because he’s awesome. If it’s good old earthbound, Paula because she’s more female representation.
Vaati from LoZ has gained recognition in recent games in the series, making him an interesting choice. Now this next one might seem weird:
Any character from the Wario Ware games, as opposed to Waluigi as some people think. Some people don’t see the potential in non-fighting characters, but remember, Mr. Game and Watch didn’t fight and he ended up being an awesome contender. And how? He pulled random stuff out of his game world. A similar thing could be with the Wario Ware characters, as they could use things from their minigames. 9-Volt would be kind of a humorous inside joke seeing as how he’s a Nintendo fanboy. Kat and Ana is a duo of little ninja girls and they could summon their animals to help save the day aswell as things from their minigames. Jimmy T has some smooth dance moves, well… you know where I’m going with this. Wacky, but some pretty weird things have happened in Smash and this could be no exception.
As for what I mentioned earlier: Pokemon. The lineup I’m holding out for is Pikachu, Jigglypuff, Mewtwo, Lucario and the Trainer. Lucario has a wide variety of moves aswell as being very popular in Japan, if the words “Diamond and Pearl” mean anything to you. As you can see, unlike popular belief some Pokemon do pack more of a bunch and aren’t as cuddly. I think the combo of Mewtwo and Lucario, and to a lesser extent the trainer, could help balance out the cuddly/powerful Pokemon representatives. And remember guys, 5 out of 40 is generous to those who don’t like Pokemon and it’s personally what I’m rooting for, a fan, as well.
Another note, Fire Emblem. I think there needs to be some sort of magic user from the series to prove to smashers unfamiliar with FE that it isn’t all about swordsmen.
And there are plenty more that I could mention, but this thing is getting huge so I’ll shut up.
…Oh yeah, I guess I shouldn’t forget third party characters. I think Namco should step forth with… Klonoa. What, you thought I was going to say Pac-Man?
And yes, I realize PT is really Charizard, Ivysaur and Squirtle. But from the character select screen, all 3 pokemon are encompassed by the human.

Here are some of my predictions
Ray 01 is PERFECT to be a playable character in brawl. His moves would be great If so, he should be customized with cool parts besides standards.
If there’s a Pokemon Trainer character, Who would he officially battle? why not have a female Pokemon Trainer? I mean the 3rd generation one. I would suggest she should have Treeko, Marshtomp, and Blaziken if they aren’t comfirmed as pokeballs.
Isaac from Golden Sun makes the best playable. Ever since the first golden sun game appeared, it had quite the number of Nintendo Power awards. maybe he could fight with psynergy.
Megaman would be great too.
The pokemon named Poliwhirl would be cool. Not too popular, but still. Bubblebeam, Doubleslap, Hypnosis, and Bodyslam. Similar to Jigglypuff.
I think none of the new fighters should be removed. They could’ve been someone’s favorite character
Sheik-The twilight princess is lame and doesn’t look like she can fight much. Sheik’s my favorite. I’d be disappointed if she was gone.
Luigi-Luigi was in every Smash Bros game, Luigi’s cool, a mario costume isn’t. He is such a good Idea they should keep him in.
Jigglypuff-Jigglypuff may be weak, but I don’t care,
Ness-Who’s Lucas? I’ve grown up loving Ness.
Captain Falcon-Who else would be better than Falcon?
Dr. Mario-Since Mario has fludd, the viruses can help out Dr.Mario, right?
Young Link-He can have the Windwaker toon model.
Ganondorf-I think he would be in the Twilight Princess Model as well.
Falco-Falco’s fine, people think of him in his red suit, or maybe his Dinosaur Planet model.
Mewtwo-There’s nobody that can ever replace Mewtwo. It’s never the same without him.
Marth-Who’s Ike? Marth’s my main man. His sword symbol is the sword he uses.
Roy-Roy is great too. I never gotten far in Melee without him.
Pichu-Don’t matter if he’s a threat to himself.
Mr.Game & Watch-He looks cool. I think his final smash could be Boxing. 2D characters look cool.

Olimar has been confirmed as a character! I was a little over half-right!
i think that the ridley should be in brawl with a final smash as meta ridley rockets gets some wicked machinary then fires off some rockets after rockets all gone he stays meta ridley and is slower with more attack power!
