Konami will be bringing its widely popular Pro Evolution Soccer series to Nintendo Wii, with a version of the game being developed for the system for release in 2008.
Scheduled for a Q1 launch, the Wii version of PES will offer the same level of realism that has established the series as a football title, but has had a little surgery to take full advantge of the Wiis control system. The game will make full use of the Wii Remote and Nunchuk controllers, offering total control over every aspect of the players and their movements both on and off the ball.
“We are extremely keen to introduce PES to as wide a selection of football fans as possible, and the Wii and its unique abilities are a perfect fit,” commented Jon Murphy, Pro Evolution Soccer Team Leader for Konami Digital Entertainment. “The potential for PES on the format is enormous, and we look forward to a very exciting start to 2008.”

This is the best news I have heard all year (with regards to the wii…I do have a life!)
I am a major football fan and have been dying for pro evo to come out on a nintendo console for ages and ages, my prayers have been answered!
I wonder if the controls will be wii stylee or if it will be old school controls, I reckon they should just have an option where you can choose any control method like super smash bros will be
I’m not really into sports in general, especially so in video games where the basic idea of it all is to pull yourself away from reality as much as possible…
My taste in games aside, I’m glad to see the Wii getting this kind of attention… Should this game come state side I might like to at least try it out… Even though I’m not that into sports, soccer is far above most of the games we have over here IMO…
Especially so compared to the crap we call football…
Pro Evo on Wii?
Awesome.
And 9th LEVEL, the basic idea of video games isn’t to pull yourself away from reality, it’s to entertain.
Keep in mind Tennis for Two and Pong, both regarded as the first video games, were simulations of Tennis, and Ping-Pong, respectively.
But back to the news.
I hope the controls are responsive.
Great news nonetheless. :DDDDDD
I’ve never played this. Is it better than FIFA?
JimmyDief: It’s a hundred thousand times better than FIFA.
