Super Paper Mario for Wii has been well received by the critics, as evidenced by an 85 score on Metacritic. And the gaming public loves it as well, with a reported 1.55 million copies sold.

But does all that success warrant a movie spinoff from the Nintendo Wii title? Seth Gordon, director of the hit documentary King Of Kong, certainly thinks so. And this is a fella who knows his Nintendo.

“I’d love, really love, to adapt Super Paper Mario into a movie, a movie that would constantly switch from 2D to 3D. In five years, 3D cinema is going to be really big,” he said in a recent interview with Ignore Magazine.

“(KoK) was screened for Nintendo, but I haven’t had the chance to speak to anyone over there about it. But I definitely want to have that conversation.”

In the meantime, Cohen is working on a feature film remake of King Of Kong. “As it’s being written, it’s intended to be a remake that explores the moments we couldn’t be present,” he explained, insisting it is not a sequel.

Hopefully, this flick will wash out that bad taste that’s been in our mouths ever since witnessing the with John Leguizamo and Bob Hoskins. Though I’m still very skeptical.

Well, if I know anything about King of Kong, the movie will not be worth watching… it will probably be about people playing Paper Mario…

The King of Kong is about a Winner and Loser of the 80s classic arcade, Donkey Kong. After 20 years, they’re brought back to see who reigns supreme master of the game.

We probably will not be seeing the documentary of Mario for a couple of years after the King of Kong remake, which will be a fictional film based on actual events (the first film).

By the way, 3D cinema? We’re talking IMAX right? That would be amazing to witness Mario on IMAX. \:D/
