A boy of seven was killed by a counterfeit Gameboy charger while on holiday in Thailand, an inquest heard yesterday.

Connor O’Keeffe was found on a hotel room floor in Phuket still holding the wires of the charger after he was electrocuted in December last year.

His stepfather Keith Skinner had bought the device for £9 from a store because the family, from Walworth in South-East London, had forgotten to pack Connor’s charger.

Now, no one can read this and say that counterfeit is innocent!
The creators of that charger should be forced to go to his funeral…

Go to his funeral? that’s not really fair for his family. Shouldn’t the people who create a deadly product go to prison? In the US they might, don’t know how things work in thailand though.

The heading “7-year-old killed by fake Gameboy.” is rather mis-leading. I was expecting to read some crazy story about how he died as a result of his gameboy not the charger.

With that said though…is there additional information on this? How did he get electrocuted? The article says he was holding the wires. I only have a Advance SP but in looking at the charger I am not quite sure how I would be electrocuted holding one…even if it is plugged in.

Maybe he was holding the wires… and touching the metal part at the end when he plugged it in.

Maybe it’s just me, but didn’t this happen a few months back? Not sure when, but I clearly remember reading about this.
