5 Things Guitar Hero Can Do to Stay Fresh

Filed under: Exclusive, News, Rants/Opinions — Floating World @ 4:27 pm

guitarhero3.jpg

It’s obvious that we loved Guitar Hero III on the Wii, but its gotten to the point where the formula will have to have some thoughtful additions to keep it fresh and exciting to come back to. Neversoft made attempts with the addition of Boss Battles and the battle mode in general, but seemed to have missed the point. Guitar Hero III is a fun experience in that its a blast to nail a song. Throwing in the randomness of Mario Kart-esque items really detracts from the overall experience. In addition, where Rock Band has carved its niche in the multiplayer realm, we can’t help but feel it would be a mistake for Guitar Hero to follow in its footsteps by adding singing hero or drum hero to its repertoire. It seems in Neversoft’s best interest to differentiate itself further by taking its single player experience even further. So what can be done to enhance the core gameplay of Guitar Hero? We have five things that Neversoft could try out, check them out after the jump: (more…)

Nintendo: King of Japan Xmas Sales! December 30, 2007

Filed under: News — Max @ 6:58 pm

Nintendo named King (Queen) last week for pre-Christmas console sales in Japan, with sales of Wii and DS Lites higher than all others combined.

The DS topped the chart (again) with unit shipments totalling 279,551 consoles for the week of 23 December 2007, according to Japan’s Media Create organisation. As you can see from the chart below, the console’s week-by-week sales growth continues to go unchallenged.

Japanese Consoles Sales

The Wii, with weekly sales of 232,907 units. For the last four weeks, the total rises to 593,286, well behind the DS Lite’s 794,529 but ahead of the PSP’s 522,521 sales. Sony’s handheld sales of 171,804 units last week, down on the previous seven-day period’s tally.

PS3 sales were down to, 58,167 units. Japanese consumers aren’t taking it to the their hearts. Gamers are, however, suggested by the weekly sales, mirrored in the continuing demand for the Xbox 360 and the PS2, which racked up weekly sales of 7,908 and 20,391  respectively.

Four-week sales totals of the PS3, PS2 and 360 are 197,102; 64,106; and 31,977.

Red Steel 2 confirmed finally?

Filed under: News — Max @ 5:03 pm

http://www.kotaku.com.au/2007/10/31/redsteel1.jpg

A sequel to Ubisoft’s Wii title Red Steel has seemed like a certainty since the first game debuted. Ubisoft confirmed the game was on the way, but then quickly unconfirmed the title. Since then, we’ve heard nothing about the game - until now!

Gaming Target has stated that Issue 26 of the UK based official Nintendo Magazine finally confirms that Ubisoft is working on Red Steel 2 for release sometime in 2008.

According to a preview in the magazine, the game will feature “better controls, better AI, better multiplayer and online play”. Expect the first screenshots to come soon, probably sometime early 2008.

The real most impossible Mario game. (NSFW Language)

Filed under: News — ItSelvy @ 2:34 pm

Recently our good buddy hey_suburbia posted a video on an impossible Mario game. It had all the tricks of Mario held against the player. I’d like to start off with saying that this post is nothing against him what so ever, no to out beat him or what not. It is merely a ….sequel to his post. Anyway, a lot of the commenters brought up the famous youtube video of the real impossible Mario with commentary. I decided to post this to sequel suburbia’s post as well as show all of you this hilarious video.

PLEASE NOTE: THIS IS NSFW OR YOUR PARENTS EARS! IT HAS A VERY COLORFUL LANGUAGE!
