Speaking with the New York Times, Nintendo’s Reggie Fils-Aime has offered a little more info on the Wii’s ability to interact with the DS. While we already know that the Wii will be able to download and transmit DS demos to the handheld, we now also know that you’ll soon be able to download full games to your DS. While discussing the demo download feature, as well as DS DLC (like Japan, the US version of Professor Layton will feature extra downloadable puzzles), he tells the paper that gamers will be able to download “complete games” to the DS via the Wii’s upcoming Everyone’s Nintendo channel.

Wii!… I mean DS!… er… I mean… WEEEEEEEEEE!!!!
This is amazingly good news! Cross your fingers that maybe just maybe we’ll be able to transfer some of our VC games on to the DS as well…
this is great , cant wait for everybody’s nintendo channel
all i can say is… awesome
nice……..cool a wii with DS games, nice
cool! except i hope they come up with some way to keep it on there longer. it might get annoying to have to re-download it every time we shut our DS off.

Well not that they haven’t just gone and overlooked practicality issues like that in the past, but I wouldn’t worry too much about this…
If they are going to be selling complete games through this method they would be grossly foolish not to make some kind of memory cartridge for the DS…
I’m willing to bet this is going to be there answer for VC on the DS as well… I figure it would only be a matter of time before we start to see Game Boy & Game Gear titles for download…
