We Ski March 3, 2008
Although Family Ski has been announced for Japan for quite sometime, it was never confirmed that the game would ship to the West. Well today, Namco America have confirmed that the game will indeed be shipping to the States along with a name change; “We Ski” - although I’m personally surprised they didn’t call it “Wii Ski”.
Anyway, ‘We Ski’ will be the first third-party game to utilize the new Balance Board that comes with Nintendo’s Wii Fit, as well as the Wii remote and Nunchuk.
“We are thrilled to be the first publisher to offer a realistic and enjoyable skiing experience that can also support the new Wii Balance Board,” said Todd Thorson, Director of Marketing and Public Relations for Namco Bandai Games America Inc. “Namco Bandai is working to entertain both casual gamers and hardcore enthusiasts with a recreation of a beloved sport and pastime.”
We Sky allows players to create their own characters with tons of customizable options, or if they so wish, can use their own Miis direct from their Wii console. We Ski also features entire mountains to explore; complete with a ski school, freestyle skiing, moguls and slaloms, photography, and a variety of other events.
Namco have the game currently down for a ‘Spring 2008′ release for America. No word on a Europe release date yet.

I wonder if they just couldn’t get the rights to call it “Wii Ski.” I bet Nintendo has some pretty tight reigns on the “Wii” names for games.
No snowboarding? The balance board looks made for snowboarding!
