Defeat a normal course ghost with a time at least seven seconds faster to unlock the expert ghost for that course.

Special credits
Win all trophies in a class to view the credits and see a congratulations screen featuring your Mii with Mario and Peach. Win all Grand Prix Cups to get another congratulations screen featuring your Mii with all the racers.
Quick start
When the countdown starts, wait until the “2″ begins to disappear, then hold 2 to get a boost at the start of the race.
Quick recovery
When you fall into an obstacle, press 2 precisely when you land to get a temporary boost.
Profile name stars
You can add a star next to your profile name on the results screen and the Wi-Fi races by completing all Grand Prix races with a certain rank:
One star profile name: Earn a “One Star” rank in all Grand Prix races.
Two star profile name: Earn a “Two Star” rank in all Grand Prix races.
Three star profile name: Earn a “Three Star” rank in all Grand Prix races.

it’s a large kart
I have sooo mutch fun whith MK:Wii the 1st time on the wii that i played a game vor 3 hours straight and still have the “must drive another lap” feeling. And that is only the first night i got it. OMG this game is fantastic, better then Brawl IMHO. I only mis the chalanges/missions from the DS version in this game… but maybee they come unlocked in time as an online mission…
if you like the DS version you love this version…
So, is there a Mii outfit B or C? Seems odd that the Mii you unlock is titled “outfit A” if that’s the only one…

no unlockable/secret courses? Guess that’s kinda greedy to hope for, considering they gave 16 battle mode courses and 32 race tracks…. sounds like plenty! can’t wait!!!… times like this it’s good to be your own boss.

because i defenitely beat about 20 of them, but i only got funky kong right now, and birdo & toadette from the time trial unlockable characters
no you unlock them by beating the pre loaded data by at least one second, you have clearly beat enough to unlock funky but not enough to get luigi
p.s. there’s 10 battle courses,not 16
Im stuck how to you unlock the expert timetrails
you go to single player, time trial, then choose a course, then choose “challenge ghost data” of one of the nintendo guys, if you beat them by a certain amount of seconds (i can’t figure out how much, for some reason i beat nintendo at peaches ds park by 3 seconds but it still doesn’t give me ghost data) then you unlock expert ghost data, and you can then race your ghost data from that race, or the expert nintendo one.

Loving this game, but I really don’t get it. It says here to get Funky you need to unlock 4 expert ghosts, I’ve unlocked about 6 or 7 now and I still haven’t got him. Do you have to face the expert ghosts and beat them or beat a GP before or something? Thanks.

yeah nothing you unlock in time trials appear until you return to the (press a to begin) menu then go back in.
and you need to be at least 7 seconds faster to unlock the expert time trials
when you say win do u mean come in the top three and get a trophy or do you have to come 1st and get gold because its difficult to get gold on 150cc

it’s actually easy to beat the nintendo guys, i found bowsers castle 3; dk jungle;dk parkway; and bowsers castle n64, all the easiest, so try those!
leave the ones with loads of shortcuts till last, because the nintendo guys will probably use them all the time.

how do i get star rankings?
i’ve won alle the cups in 50cc and 100cc; but i don’t get the option kart/bikes (i have seen the screen with the unlocking but i can’t choose…..)

you get star rankings by being 1st in every race in a cup, and by being 1st in most laps, this will get you a one star
two stars for being 1st in even more laps
and i still have’t got a 3 star ranking so not sure, didn’t seem to get one for being 1st in every lap for one cup, but who knows
does having wii outfit B mean two people can play as miis?
is there a wii outfit C and D? i mean there is space for them in the character select screen
and that would also mean 4 people could play as Miis?
To get 1 star ranking you have to come first in all four races in a cup. To get two star I think you have to come first in all four races and you have to have a lot of distance between first place(you) and second player. I don’t know how to get three star though, I havn’t got one before I think but my brother says he has but we don’t know how to get it(maybe you have to overlap someone?)

am i the only 1 having trouble unlocking things? it may seem a bit dum but…i played like 12 Time trial tracks, won about 5 or so and lost the rest…
but up here it says : Unlockable Bikes:

but there nothing happened after the 8th one….
do i need 2 win 8!? or do i need 2 do it with bikes only!?

Just go into your license, then back to Grand Prix. If that doesn’t work just reset then go into Grand Prix. You should get the unlockables then.

You only get the unlockable thing, when you got gold trophys on every cup in the ccs for example everything gold in 100cc is the mii driver

steph, go to the trial mode and race the ghost data there. Beat 4 of them and you unlock him.
I don’t think you need to be first in every race to get a * rank, because I got one and I only had 53 points or something. I also got a *** rank once, on 150cc Shell Cup I think, which I was surprised at cos 150cc isn’t the simplest by any means. Anyway, I have suspicions that the number of people you hit with items and number of tricks to preform well have a part it upping the chance of getting any * rank =)

Steph you have to unlock the expert staff ghosts by getting certain times if you have done that you have to reload your saved file and the unlock screens will appear. Retro is the courses that were on the other Mario Kart games all these courses are in the cups on the bottom row of the cup select screen
i love this game but it really annoys me when the blue turtle shell comes after me
with the time trails, all you do is challenge the nin* ghost data (pressume u need wi-fi?) and after the race if u win, on the first screen at the bottom it will either say Ghost data saved, that means do it again, or it will say ‘expert time trail unlocked’ that is what u want. get the required number of those to get the unlockables.

Imblue you have to have a mario galaxy file saved on your wii then but if you dont then do all the cups in grand prix

Call me stupid, but I spent last night trying to get some unlocks. I’m trying to get the Mii Kit A, so started off by trying to unlock the special cup, which I read you had to do somewhere else by unlocking the star cup by completeing the flower cup. I’ve completed the flower cup and got gold, but nothing else unlocked. I’ve tried it in multiplayer with my gf in vs, also done it in single player in vs and grand prix. Which mode does it need to be done in please?

I’ve managed three of four of the 3-star ratings now, I’m pretty sure that it’s a combination of coming in first place, and you need some pretty good race time’s - I think this goes for 2 and 2 star ratings too, but obviously slightly easier to achieve. Has anyone here beaten an Expert staff time trial? I came within a second on Sherbet Land, but can’t repeat it

i have been following the debate in this forum for some time now, but it is a little wird, that no one is taking about the turbostart, and how to do it. i have no idea how to get a turbostart, but i know that it exists, cause i have had a few by accident, but i don’t know how. could somone tell me how to get a turbostart in mario kart wii, please:)
odinpus to unlock expert ghoust data i think you have to beat the person with a star in there name
Retro Cups are the cups at the bottom of the 8 of them as they have games from other series (gc,gb,snes)
Kasper what you have to do is on the count down (3, 2, 1, Go!) when number 2 is showing and then fading hold acellarate hold it before 2 is fading then you will burn your engine

you can unlock the rally romber (i think its called!) by winning 50 wifi connection cups p.s its a small kart but it looks like a small version of a monster truck!

i struggled with the turbo start at first
now it’s easy, just press a straight after 2…
Ive got most of the characters and karts and found out that if u use a light character and rally romper you can get round most if not all tracks easily even ghost valley 2 but u may still need some practise around the ever changing track. also there’s a hidden shortcut in coconut mall but i aint tellin’ but ya need a mushroom dats all im sayin’. byeeeee for now i will be back.
also press accelerate button when 2 still there but vanishin’ n youll get a super thrust at da beginnin’ if ya da it right ,also if ya hit someone really fast like u may be able to nick someones item as long as ur item box has nothin’ in it so good luck bye all.
i almost forgot in 3 days time ausies will be following the fight for da mario kart crown which means a whole crazier wifi connectionand we have to wait until da 27th or 28th when america get it so we can have our 1st wifi competition i believe but still ,can’t wait it’s gonna be crazzzy. see ya i have to race

ok…so now for all guys that still don’t know how to unlock expert ghost data, heres how it works: the trick is not only to beat the nintendo guys ghosts, you have to be a couple of seconds faster than them! the amount of seconds you have to be in front of them varies from like 3 to 7 seconds from course to course…..so just try to be as fast as you can on all the courses and you’ll get mii outfit b in no time…really it ain’t that hard…
only snes ghost valley 2 and gba shy guy beach were kinda difficult
and btw. turbo start is pretty easy….i think it’s even said how to do it in the manual…as snomi said: just press a little moment after “2″ appears, just like in mario kart ds

when you get a pow block wiggle the the wiimote so u turn 1 time and then youll drive of and it doesn’t matter when u do it just wiggle and it won’t affect u as bad.

i prefer automatic cars now, sure u may get a turbo, but i think u have less control on automatic and are easier to use on turing stages such as waluigi stadium (NGC)

i found out that u on some courses u hav to be 3 secs faster or seven secs on others and luigi circuit u hav to be 3 secs faster also if u get 2 secs fastr on ur 1st lap you just hav to be 5 secs fastr on the 2nd and keep there throughout 3rd lap simple a 1 year old could do it. i’m a jehovah’s witness.

is anybody else having trouble getting outfit B, I’m gonna investigate, pay close attention to my comments, you may need to do more than just the expert trials to get it, as the guy who made this site updated that bit last I’m guesing that completing the time trials was the last thing he did: comingto my conclusion, try doing everything else after or bfore.

I’ve got a few problems. I’ve unlocked the leaf cup on 150cc but when i tried to get it on 50cc it wouldn’t do it. I beat the banana cup on 50cc twice and got outa license and still didn’t have 50cc leaf cup. And wut are star rankings and how do u find out u have them. it just says ranking:A or E or some other letter. is that equivealant to so many star rankings or what. and wut r the easiest time trials to beat cuz I want funky kong. thx i no i’m probably stupid. pleze reply quickly!!!!!

If u come 1st in all tracks in a cup u get 1 star
get like 5 secs quicker than prob get 2 star
Get 10secs 3star
Dont do Yoshi falls prob do rainbow i lost against him and i got expert ??

MII B is just a different clothed version of Mii A, both are light weight classed characters…
Not true. There is a C (read the article). Also, the weight class depends on the size of the Mii itself. E.g., a tall and wide Mii will be heavy-weight, and medium sized one will be medium, and a small one (such as yours) will be light.

You forgot a Small Kart - The Tiny Titan; you get it by beating 50 opponents on Wi-Fi.
Also, I beat the Staff Ghost on N64 Bowser’s Castle with like 16 seconds in between and it gave me an even harder ghost which I ASSUME is the Expert Staff Ghost Data but I never got the Rally Romper. Before anyone states the obvious, yes I exited out of my license and went back in. Hell, I even shut my Wii off for a couple hours and came back and it still didn’t give me it. I’m pretty sure I unlocked an expert staff ghost on another level too and I still never got the Rally Romper. Are you sure you only need to unlock 1 Expert Staff Ghost Data?

Uh? I just beat another one and paid attention to the bottom left of the screen and it said I unlocked a FAST staff ghost data, not an EXPERT. By beating a NORMAL one by 7 or more seconds, you unlock a FAST one. I assume you then have to beat the FAST one to unlock EXPERT? God, it seems nearly impossible, and all these FAQ sites need to update their information to state how to properly get an EXPERT.
Well, Mickey imported the Euro version for this article… perhaps it is “Expert” in Europe and “Fast” in America.
I didn’t get the Rally Romper though and it says you only have to unlock one expert. Perhaps Rally Romper translates to something different as well?

# Quick start
When the countdown starts, wait until the “2″ begins to disappear, then hold 2 to get a boost at the start of the race.
When the timer to begin the race just starts, hold 1 + 2. As soon as it is about to say “Go”, release both buttons and press 2 as you would normally do to start the race. If done correctly, you will get a nice boost that will usually put you in first place in the 50cc and 100cc class. Note: This may require some practice.
# Quick recovery
When you fall into an obstacle, press 2 precisely when you land to get a temporary boost.
# Use same character with more than one player
This glitch works because you are automatically placed on the character you last selected. First, make have player one choose the character desired. Next, deselect the character, and move off it. Have player two select the character. Go back one screen, then enter the character selection screen again. You should now both be on the same character. Then, have both players select the character. Note: This trick also works for three and four players.
# Defending against POW Block
When an opponent uses a POW Block, it will spin you out on the third POW, causing you to lose an item and speed. However, if you perform a wheelie on a bike as soon as your hear the third POW, you will spin and lose your item but maintain your speed. Additionally, if you shake the Wii-mote, it will create a force field and protect you. Also, if you are off the ground (not jumping) from something such as a ramp, you will avoid the POW Block.
# Winning online
A win counts as long as points are added to your total score. For example, if you get fifth, or sometimes sixth, place in an online race, it is still considered a win. The same goes for Battle Online. You can be on the losing team, but if you scored enough coins or hits and it adds points to your score, then it can be a win.
# Golden Wii Wheel icon
After using the Wii Wheel extensively in all modes, a golden Wii Wheel will appear next to your name when you go online.
# Profile name stars
You can add a star next to your profile name on the results screen and the Wi-Fi races by completing all Grand Prix races with a certain rank:
One star profile name: Earn a “One Star” rank in all Grand Prix races.
Two star profile name: Earn a “Two Star” rank in all Grand Prix races.
Three star profile name: Earn a “Three Star” rank in all Grand Prix races.
