My first 30 min. w/ We Ski on the Wii Fit Balance Board! May 15, 2008

My first 30 min. w/ We Ski (direct feed) and video of me playing We Ski with the Wii Fit Balance Board over top the footage. The footage goes out of sync in some spots, but you get the idea.

I do have to say that this game controls amazingly well with the Wii Fit balance board. It didn’t feel like something they just tacked on at the last minute. The skier controlled even better than the slalom game in Wii Fit. You’ll notice that under the skier you’ll see a bar showing where your weight is shifting.

The video above is my very first time playing, I played solely with the Wii Fit balance board, so you’ll notice a slight learning curve, I’ve gotten a lot better since I filmed that.

Just wondering~ isn’t it possible to lean forward to gain more speed? Like in the wii-fit game?

I thought so too, but it didn’t seem like it. I kept trying to lean forward and/or push up on the analog stick. It appears that pushing with your ski poles is the only way to gain speed. I didn’t do any tutorial though, so I may have missed something.

hm, well after a quick youtube-search, i found this:

At about 1-minute (when he starts skiing) he do lean forward. Though later seems it’s depending on the wii-mote rather than on the balance board, which would explain why it didn’t work for you.

The balance board is only used for left and right movements, speed is controlled by the remote/nunchuk - turning them in the way tuck them up under your arms and…whooooosh

well, at first you could only gain speed by pushing the ski poles, but as you gain speed, just twist both your Wiimote to the right and your Nunchuk to the left and lean forward a little. That will help you gain speed, especially on the downhill parts ^^. I absolutely love this game, have all 160 stars and spams my Wii Message Board with photos from this game everytime XD
