WiiNintendo Review - “Wii-ID” July 31, 2008

Filed under: Exclusive, Fanboy, Reviews — hey_suburbia @ 4:40 pm

Basically, this is a new way to “skin” your Wii Remote.  Wii-ID, comes with a battery cover with a clear window in it.  Within the Wii-ID package you’ll also find 18 pre-made “inserts”, you’ll also find a template that will allow you to print out and cut your own imagery/graphics to put into the Wii Remotes battery cover window.  You can see the designs they provide below:

The designs range from techy to humor.  I’m sure the variety will fit most needs, but for me I’d most likely make my own design or maybe just a print out of my Mii.

I also like the look when there is nothing at all and you can just see the batteries, it would be cool to take a photo of the Wii Remote’s batteries then put edit the photo so the batteries have some sort of design on them, it would look as if your looking through clear plastic, but it would be your print.

Or take a photo of you’re Wii Remote without batteries, print that out and put it into the Wii-ID slip, then you can trick your family and friends that you have a new Wii Remote that doesn’t need batteries… Get all David Blaine on their asses.

I only had one little grip about the Wii-ID, I found it hard to remove once it was on the Wii Remote, maybe it just needed a little TLC or to be broken in more, no biggie.

Bottom line:  If you like to customize, this is a cheap fun way to make your Wii Remote unique.  This in combination with a Wii Remote skin will really show how creative, cool, and rad you are.

Can’t beat the price, $7.99, order here

From Total Console:

The Wiimote is a smart device, allowing you to carry your “Mii” on the go, and use it at a friends house. But, all wiimotes look the same. Enter the wiiID. The WiiID includes a custom battery cover with a clear window in it, and 8 different templates that you can put behind the window so you can easily tell your wiimote apart from everyone else’s.

The WiiID is practical and entertaining at the same time, as you can put funny pictures inside your wiimote (like rusty gears, or an ear of corn) making your wiimote unique and fun.

Of course, you can also make your own template simply by printing your favorite photo on your printer, and cutting it to the appropriate size.

Let your wiimote join the party, with the wiiID.

INCLUDES:

* 1 replacement battery cover
* 20 ready to use templates
* Guide tool to quickly cut your own clipart

Just a final note, I have 2 of these up for grabs, we’ll have something in our forums tomorrow where you can enter to win.  (Usually, it’s a Wii high score or something Wii related)  Stay tuned and remember to check out our forums where we regularly give away prizes and have online competitions:  WiiFuse.com

This is going to be a new feature on WiiNintendo, I plan on updating the “Around The Net - endo” daily or even 2+ times a day.

A lot of random news/videos/screens/etc.. slip through the crack.  Here, in this section, you’ll find a comprehensive “dump” of Nintendo news from all over the internet on a regular basis, a glorified RSS feed of sorts.

This daily feature is a work in progress…

WiiNintendo Re-Launches, Wiigg (Digg + Wii) v3

Filed under: Exclusive, Fanboy, News — hey_suburbia @ 3:39 pm

WiiNintendo is re-launching it’s Social Gaming Site, Wiigg.net.  It’s been up and down for the past 2 years, but now with the latest open source software of  Pligg, it really runs a lot more smoothly.

What does Wiigg and “Social Gaming Site” mean?

Well, ANYBODY can submit news, write news, post a video, post a screen shot, photo, whatever and then other users vote on the submission, the stories with the most votes get “promoted” and appear on the front page of Wigg.net and also on WiiNintendo.net’s front page. It functions very much like Digg, hence the name Wiigg. You can view “upcoming articles”, you can click on “live” and view ALL activity on the site, submissions, comments, votes, etc.. as they happen.

This site is functioning 100%, but I’m still designing/adding plugins.

SO, join up, submit some stuff, and vote on stuff you like:

EA reveals 40 games in development for Wii and DS

Electronic Arts has revealed that it has 40 titles in development for Nintendo’s Wii and DS hardware.

Devs are going for “quality over quantity” with their EA projects.

The company also said that the Steven Spielberg collaboration, Boom Blox, has sold over 450,000 units in EA’s first fiscal quarter.

Boom Blox from EA Casual continues to sell well,” said CEO John Riccitiello in the company’s conference call following it’s quarterly financial results.

History of the “Game & Watch”

Filed under: Fanboy, Random — hattrick @ 2:21 pm

Here’s a really cool history (fairly brief) about Nintendo’s “Game & Watch.”  It is really interesting how the G&W laid the foundation of how the company thinks today.
