I do have to say that this game controls amazingly well with the Wii Fit balance board. It didn’t feel like something they just tacked on at the last minute. The skier controlled even better than the slalom game in Wii Fit. You’ll notice that under the skier you’ll see a bar showing where your weight is shifting.

The video above is my very first time playing, I played solely with the Wii Fit balance board, so you’ll notice a slight learning curve, I’ve gotten a lot better since I filmed that.

A debut Wiiware title, does it have what it takes to be worth its weight in gold?

Pop is definitely one of my favorite games of late as it is madly addictive. Who knew that popping bubbles could turn into hours upon hours of madness?

Pop is a simple game that revolves around players pointing their Wii cursor at the screen and pressing the A or B button in an attempt to pop as many bubbles as possible. The player can tackle through several modes of gameplay (Normal, Advanced, Chill, and multiplayer versions of these modes), and compete for their mark on the Worldwide Leadership Boards.

Pop is a simple game to grasp and will truly be enjoyable to people of all ages. Although it is simple, there are several complex elements within. The first is the bubble chaining system in which the player can choose to pop bubbles of the same color in order to score a multiplayer and gain tons of points. There are power-ups as well that can affect the gameplay. Power-ups can affect the time that is required to survive. The takes place through a series of waves. Each wave usually will feature a different color of bubbles, background, music, speed, and direction of bubbles. Players lose when the clock reaches 0 or a negative number (for example if the timer is low and there is a chain of “nukes” and “skulls” then the skulls will continue to deduct time and even go to negative time, which is weird).

A trailer for the game leaked onto the Interweb just yesterday, and now we learn via Famitsu magazine that Platinum Games is developing a brand new action title for the Nintendo Wii entitled Mad World. Head inside for the first details on this, and of the other key announcements published in this week’s issue of the Japanese gaming bible.

Mad World, developed by Platinum Games is set within a colorless world of black and white. In fact, the only other shade on show is red, saved for the blood spilt by fallen enemies. Described as a mixture of “cheerful violence” and a “curb brawler”, the title is being directed by Shigenori Nishikawa (credited previously in the Resident Evil and Dino Crisis series’). As of now, there is no official release date.

Nintendic

The game includes the specially designed Family Trainer mat controller which, when combined with the Wii Remote, lets players get totally physical in a series of crazed challenges. Unlike other games for the Wii which only focus on the arms, Family Trainer gets the feet involved too for total body gameplay. Simple controls and intuitive play make the game easy to just pick up and play, and let players of any age get involved, get physical and have maximum fun.

There are over a dozen frantic single and multiplayer challenges to choose from all based on outdoor challenges amusingly interpreted for the world of Family Trainer, such as river rafting, mine karting, log jumping, rope skipping and much more. The activities take place in a variety of colourful locations including jungle forests full of ancient ruins, a haunted mansion complete with hordes of zombies, and a fairytale world where riding on toys and floating amongst the clouds is the order of the day.

Players can challenge friends or family members on the same mat, or cooperate together, for example trying to balance a runaway mine kart as it hurtles round a gravity defying track. Players can track their progress and set new records for their friends and family to beat, bringing a dose of healthy competition into the madcap mix.

WiiWare has launched, and between the flood of new games and the upcoming press events this week the editors have plenty to talk about. What’s the deal with the rumored Platinum Games titles? Which WiiWare games are must-buys?

Prepare to experience a new kind of skateboarding game as Electronic Arts reintroduces last year’s Skate title with a new spin off on the Nintendo Wii and DS platforms. Entitled Skate It, the game will make use of the innovative controls from both platforms and integrate it with the intuitive FlickIt control system from the previous title.

While it may not be considered as a direct sequel of the first Skate game, Skate It does provide the same kind of hardcore skateboarding action with its own unique spin integrated into its intuitive control system.

All Consoles: Previously Wii Fit denied GTA IV the top spot in the Amazon.com software chart and now Mario Kart Wii is enjoying its turn. In the complete videogame sales chart, which includes hardware and peripherals, the Wii Wheel took second place, with GTA IV for Xbox 360 only managing third.

Two new scans have appeared from Coro Coro Comics showing off the first images of Lost in Blue for the Wii, a game in development by Konami.

Guitar Hero 4 will be available for the Sony PlayStation 3, Microsoft Xbox 360, Nintendo Wii and PlayStation 2. All platforms will have the same features.

Activision CEO, Bobby Kotick, said in April that they will include a lot of instruments and vocals for Guitar Hero 4 (Drums, the bass guitar and vocals). You can create your own guitar and drum sounds plus your own rocker too.

Another interesting added feature is song creation. Yes, you can now unleash your own inner songwriter. Unfortunately, you can’t record vocal tracks yet because of storage and copyright issues. But you can create up to five songs which you can share with the online community over at GH Tunes.

If people give your compositions a high rating, you can upload up to about ten or more songs. To help you make your songs more interesting, you can name them and create their album arts.

Confirmed so far is that Van Halen, The Eagles, Linkin Park and Sublime will be featured.

Finally, Guitar Hero 4 will feature a new guitar design from Red Octane which has an innovative input mechanic subject for patent.
